Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day everyone.

I figured I should say SOMETHING today, it being Canada’s 150th birthday.

What I really want to say is, I love this country. Yes, it’s been corrupted beyond belief. Yes, various rootless cosmopolitans are insistent on importing literally anyone they can find. Yes, we vote like idiots.

But we’re a good people. We’re kind. Despite the best efforts of our politicians, we still value community. Even our greatest follies come from being too considerate, too willing to give others the benefit of the doubt. We were moulded by an environment that required a mindset like that to survive, and so we are susceptible to people who would take advantage of that.

In short, there is no where in the world that I’d rather live than small town Canada. It is a beautiful country, with many beautiful people. We were the only place in the world to beat America in a war before World War Two, and we did it twice!

I want to protect Canada, from hostile forces both foreign and domestic. I’m not sure the best way how, but I am doing my best to figure that out.

I’ll leave you with the lyrics to Canada’s first national anthem, The Maple Leaf Forever.

In days of yore,
from Britain’s shore,
Wolfe, the dauntless hero, came
And planted firm Britannia’s flag
On Canada’s fair domain.
Here may it wave, our boast, our pride
And, joined in love together,
The thistle, shamrock, rose entwine
The Maple Leaf forever!

The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

At Queenston Heights and Lundy’s Lane,
Our brave fathers, side by side,
For freedom, homes and loved ones dear,
Firmly stood and nobly died;
And those dear rights which they maintained,
We swear to yield them never!
Our watchword evermore shall be
“The Maple Leaf forever!”

The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen
and heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

Our fair Dominion now extends
From Cape Race to Nootka Sound;
May peace forever be our lot,
And plenteous store abound:
And may those ties of love be ours
Which discord cannot sever,
And flourish green o’er freedom’s home
The Maple Leaf forever!

The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen
and heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

On merry England’s far famed land
May kind heaven sweetly smile,
God bless old Scotland evermore
and Ireland’s Em’rald Isle!
And swell the song both loud and long
Till rocks and forest quiver!
God save our Queen and Heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear,
The Maple Leaf forever!
God save our Queen
and heaven bless
The Maple Leaf forever!

Happy Birthday Canada.

Love,

A Fuckin’ Leaf
